The front aspect of this Victorian cottage in Twickenham was transformed by SashWise in Spring 2026, by installing new Accoya timber double glazed windows
SashWise supplied and installed four sash windows and a fixed picture window to the front aspect of this Victorian cottage in Twickenham.
The original single glazed windows were carefully removed and disposed of. The window apertures were cleaned and prepared for the installation of the new windows. This involved carrying out some minor damp work.
The new windows were manufactured from Accoya timber, a firm favourite with SashWise because of it's exceptional durability. The new windows were spray finished and glazed with double glazed units. Our double glazed un its come with white spacer bars to soften the look of the units within the timber frames.
Great care was taken to match the design, proportions moulding detail and intricacy of the original windows. Rather than using a timber glazing bead, our windows are glazed using acrylic putty which is more durable and replicates the traditional look of the windows.
The external render reveals were renewed around the windows and internal architrave and window boards were fitted. The windows were fully draught-proofed and furnished with high quality Polished Brass ironmongery throughout.
With a U-Value of 1.2 the superior thermal efficiency of the new windows significantly reduced any heat loss through the windows.
Ventilation requirements were met through the concealed trickle vents without impacting on the elegance of the windows.
Sound-proofing was vastly enhanced through both the cavity of the double glazed units and the draught-proofing system incorporated within the windows.
The double glazed units were constructed using toughened glass and combined with the sash stop locks, security was markedly improved.
Constructed from Accoya timber and sprayed finished with 4 coats of Teknos micro-porous paint, longevity and minimal ongoing maintenance was ensured.
The attractiveness of the new windows with their design and slim glazing bars elevated the curb appeal of the property.
