In early Spring of 2026, we manufactured and installed new timber sashes with FINEO vacuum glazing to this Edwardian townhouse in Kingston. Providing superior thermal and sound insulation to both standard and triple double glazing.
The clients to this project had a very specific, they wanted to maximise both the thermal insulation and soundproofing (due to the close proximity of a busy road) of the windows without the disruption of replacing the windows in their entirety.
The current sash boxes were structurally sound but relatively shallow. Meaning there were limitations as to the thickness of glass that could be accommodated in the new timber sashes.
It was clear that the slimness, outstanding thermal properties and advanced soundproofing benefits of FINEO vacuum glazing made it the ideal solution.
The sashes were carefully removed from the sash boxes.
Sash boxes were taken back to the original wood and fully restored
2x primer/undercoats, 1 x stain block and 2x top coats were applied to the sash boxes.
Once the paint had cured new ball bearing sash pulleys and new lead sash weights were fitted.
We manufactured new Accoya timber sashes, matching the design and moulding detail of the original windows.
The new sashes were glazed with the FINEO Vacuum Glazing using an acrylic putty.
The sashes were fitted into the newly restored boxes, hung on wax cotton sash cords and installed with draught-proofed timber parting and staff beads.
High quality Polished Brass Fitch Fasteners, Curved Sash Lifts and Sash Security Stop Locks were fitted.

The above thermal images clearly depict the impressive thermal qualities of the FINEO vacuum glazing. The dark purple shading of the windows shows the low heat loss of the new windows. This is particularly evident when compared to the yellow shading of the single glazing surrounding the front door on the right image.
At the end of this project we had not only transformed the look and appearance of the windows with minimal disruption, but surpassed the clients expectations in both heat and sound insulation.
