In the spring of 2026 we supplied and fitted new Accoya timber double glazed sash windows and French Doors with a dual finish to this townhouse in Ealing.
Our team was tasked with the upgrading of the sash windows and French Doors to this townhouse in Ealing. The client wanted to improve the thermal and sound insulation of the property, whilst at the the same time not loosing the look and feel of the French Doors and sash windows.
The challenge of this project was matching the internal stained finish of the new sash windows and French Doors to the original surrounding wood that the client was keen to retain. At SashWise we use a paint system manufactured by Teknos which has been specifically developed for use on Accoya timber. Alongside standard finishes Teknos offer a range of colours for varnishes and stains and after some experimentation we found the perfect match.
Alongside improving the energy efficiency of the windows and doors the client had a number of additional design requests. Firstly to incorporate a strategically placed cat flap within one of the double glazed units of the new French Doors. Secondly, to enhance the style of the French Doors by having a scalloped design to the top rails, to match the style of the front aspect windows to the property.
To improve security the doors were fitted with a multi-point locking system and the sash windows were fitted with two Brighton Fasteners and a pair Sash Stop Locks. The glass to all of the double glazed units throughout the project was toughened.
A discreet draught-proofing system was integrated into both the new doors and windows to further improve energy efficiency.

The windows and doors are great, exactly the original stripped wood look I wanted to achieve. The colour match the the original architectural mouldings which have been re-used is perfect.
