All of our new timber windows and doors are spray finished, using a breathable micro-porous acrylic paint system from Teknos, Futura Aqua 20.
The Teknos paint system has been specifically developed for use on Accoya timber and is extremely durable making it the ideal finish to cope with the ever-changing UK climate. The timber sashes are spray painted prior to be glazed and then the acrylic putty is overpainted by hand to give the visual appearance of a traditional single glazed window.
Our standard finish is the Teknos Clean White, which is a semi-matt soft white finish. However, it can be colour matched to any RAL number or branded paint finish. So, whether your preference is Farrow and Ball’s ‘Downpipe’ or Little Greene’s ‘French Grey’ we can finish your windows in any colour that compliments your home. You can also choose to have a dual finish so a different colour on the inside to the outside
For those clients who prefer a more natural finish to their windows, Teknos offers a wide range of colours for varnishes and stains suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
When restoring the original sash boxes and sashes we use the Zinsser paint system. First, we apply a single coat of Zinsser B-I-N shellac-based primer sealer, the ultimate stain killer. We then apply two coats of Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 a water-based primer sealer, which provides excellent adhesion, even to the most challenging surfaces.
For the interior surfaces we typically apply two coats of Johnstone’s Acrylic Durable Eggshell (colour match Little Greene ‘Shirting’). This is a premium quality, low odour, mid-sheen paint that has exceptional mould resistant properties.
Finally, to the exterior surfaces we apply two top coats of Zinssers AllCoat Exterior White Satin. This exterior paint offers excellent colour retention, provides unparalleled protection against rain and severe weather. It is resistant to cracking, blistering and flaking, making it the perfect choice for timber windows.
