The highly experience team at SashWise stripped back and fully restored the original casement window frames to this Victorian house in Twickenham and fitted new Accoya timber double glazed sashes within them.
Rather than incurring the expense and disruption of completely replacing the casement windows to this Victorian property in Twickenham. The highly experience team at SashWise carefully restored the original timber window frames. The build-up of years of layers of paint were meticulously removed from the window frames, which were then sanded, filled and painted throughout using the highly durable Zinsser paint system.
We manufactured new Accoya timber casement sashes, replicating the design and detailing of the original windows. These were glazed with a 20mm Argon filled double glazed unit, with white spacer bars to soften the look of the units. The glass was toughened throughout for added safety and security.
Alongside improving the thermal efficiency of the glass the new timber stop beads were fitted around all of the windows incorporating a draught-proof brush for added airtightness.
Polished brass ball end casement fasteners and stays with locking pins were fitted to all of the opening sashes.
At the end of this installation the thermal performance of the windows had been vastly improve whilst not loosing any of the period charm or character to the windows.
