In early 2026, we fully refurbished the original sash boxes and fitted new timber double glazed sashes within them. Retaining the design and character of the original windows.
The current single glazed sashes were carefully removed and the sash boxes were retained. The sash boxes were then stripped back to the original timber, rot repairs were undertaken where required and then the sash boxes were fully painted throughout.
New ball bearing pulleys were fitted alongside new weights and sash cords.
Prior to carrying out the work to the sash boxes we manufactured new Accoya timber double glazed sashes paying particulalr attention to replicate the detailing and design of the original windows.
The new double glazed sashes were installed within the newly restored original sash boxes, the windows were fully draught-proofed and new window furniture and security locks were fitted throughout.
The double glazed units incorporated toughened glass to provide added safety and security.
By installing new timber double glazed sashes in conjunction with draught-proofing the energy performance of the windows was drastically improved. Reducing both energy bills, condensation and greatly improving the level of comfort within the home.
The double glazing also improved noise insulation and security without loosing any of the architectural character of the property.
Retaining the original sash boxes both reduced costs and minimised the level of disruption compared to complete window replacement.
We would highly recommend SashWise. From beginning to end, they were professional, friendly, efficient and offered excellent service. The installation was stress-free. Turned up on time, did the job and no hassle. Great Finish!
