Upgrading of Leaded Sashes to Casement Bay Windows in Ealing

In October 2025, we supplied and fitted new leaded double glazed timber sashes to the casement bay windows of this 1930s property in Ealing.

Project Overview

The existing bay frames were retained, stripped back to the original wood, sanded, restored and painted throughout.

We manufactured new Accoya timber casement sashes incorporating double glazed units with leaded glass. We matched the design of the original lead work to replicate the appearance of the historic leaded windows.

The Finishing Touches

New internal draught-proof stop beads were installed to provide a seal between the new casement sashes and the original window frame.

Alongside this luxury forged Polished Brass casement window furniture with a Spiral End Design was fitted throughout, including Locking Stay Pins for additional security.

Casement bay window, the results

At the end of this process the casement bay windows had been upgraded to provide both greater thermal and sound insulation. Without the the disruption and added cost of replacing the windows in their entirety. Whislt at the same time not losing the architectural design of the original period windows.

We have just had our two original 1930s leaded bay windows replaced by SashWise and are thrilled with the results. We are very happy with the quality and look of our new windows and already we feel we are getting the benefit of better heat insulation and sound-proofing. Dealing with SashWise was very easy, the fitters were all skilled and hard-working and the whole process was painless. We would highly recommend this company.
